Meet Ruben Quintero
Young Professional, and Tri County member since 2004

A snowball effect that has helped Ruben understand the how getting involved helps his profession and his business:

“It all started in the Young Professionals Network (YPN). I showed up at my first meeting, just like a regular REALTOR®. After a few months, someone tapped me on the shoulder and asked me to get more involved with the YPN.

Specifically, the ask was to become the Vice-Chair of YPN for a three association group - called Triple Play. As a Vice-Chair of this committee, leadership invited me to be a guest with our traveling Board of Directors to Sacramento for Legislative Day. Legislative day is when all California Association of REALTORS® Directors go to the capitol in Sacramento to ask our politician’s to hear to our concerns about the laws and the bills that will affect our industry.

Legislative Day completely opened my eyes as a REALTOR®. I actually saw the “HUGE” picture of organized real estate. If you care about our profession, a good place to start is attending Legislative Day.

It wasn’t long after that; someone else asked me volunteer on the Tri-Counties nominating committee. I received an appointment by our current TriCo President to serve as a member of the Tri Counties Board of Directors. Before I knew it, I applied for a board seat for California Association of REALTOR® director to learn more about what C.A.R does to help our members. I also nominated myself to be part of Nominating Committee for C.A.R.; this means I am part of a committee that helps choose our 2013 Leadership for C.A.R.

I’m now in my second round on the Tri Counties board and will be going on to my 2nd year as C.A.R. board of director. This has all been a big snowball effect and I think this could be the beginning of something great.

So when people ask me what has YPN done for me? I just smile and tell them my great story. What does it do for my career? It makes me want to do everything by the "book.". I want to make sure my clients have a pleasant experience with a REALTOR®. I want to protect the industry one transaction at a time.”
